Hindu Lotus – traditional medicine – Recipes of traditional medicine and alternative treatment

Feature. Hindu Lotus (lat. Nelumbo nucifera) amphibian, perennial plant. In Russia, the Caspian is called the Lotus orehonosny Lotus, Lotus Komarov. In many Eastern countries, the Lotus is a sacred flower. The white Lotus symbolizes power, he is depicted in the paintings of many Hindu gods. In China before Buddhism believed in the existence of the Western Paradise of the pond with lotuses, each Lotus represented the dead soul of man.

In Buddhism it is believed that at the birth of the Buddha from the heavens poured a rain of lovely lotuses, “where will come the foot of the Buddha, will grow enormous Lotus” symbolizing purity, perfection and eternal desire.

Description of Lotus orehonosny. In soft soil, usually under water is branched, fleshy, oblong, root with brown skin, and some straight leaves. Use. Use flowers, leaves, stems, roots, Lotus seeds, in cooking, in cosmetics, for medicinal purposes. Lotus has a soothing, refreshing, nutritive, antipyretic, hemostatic, diuretic, anti-toxic effect on the human body. The Lotus is used in traditional, folk, Tibetan, Vietnamese, Indian and Arab medicine.

The root and seeds can be consumed both raw and cooked. Leaves are added to salads, in combination with petrolatum is applied on the skin for burns.

Chemical composition. In raw seeds contain: fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins: B1 thiamin, B2 Riboflavin, B3 Pantothenic acid, B6 pyridoxine, B9 folic acid, Niacin equivalent PP, mineral salts: calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, manganese.

In the roots of Lotus orehonosny contain: fat, protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, vitamins: B1 thiamin, B2 Riboflavin, B3 Pantothenic acid, B6 pyridoxine, Niacin equivalent PP, mineral salts: calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, manganese.

The decoction of Lotus orehonosny.

Tablespoon chopped roots pour into a saucepan, pour 1.5 cups of water or a teaspoon of seeds pour a glass of water.
